Functions of Common Service Centers (CSC’s)
Common Service Centers are typically run by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) who act as intermediaries between the government and citizens. They offer a wide range of services, such as:-
- Government services: Application and issuance of various documents like birth certificates, Aadhaar cards, ration cards, and other essential government certificates.
- Banking services: Basic banking transactions like deposits, withdrawals, and fund transfers.
- Digital services: Internet browsing, online form submissions, and other digital-related services.
- E-Governance services: Assistance in accessing government portals and services online.
- Education and training services: Providing computer literacy and digital education to citizens.
- Healthcare services: Telemedicine consultations, health-related information dissemination, etc.
The Common Service Centers aim to bridge the digital divide by making digital services easily accessible to citizens in rural and remote areas, where access to such services may be limited. By offering a variety of services, these centers play a crucial role in enhancing digital literacy and overall development in rural India.
