Documents Required to Apply for Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana

Following documents are required to be enclosed along with application form as applicable to the applicant:-

  • Bonafide Himachali Certificate.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Proof of Date of Birth (10th Class Certificate / Birth Certificate).
  • Proof of Death of father / spouse / copy of FIR and report regarding non-traceability for last 7 years in case of missing husband.
  • Medical Certificate declaring disability (permanent) 70% or above.
  • Proof of Divorce if applicable.
  • Copy of Parivar Register.
  • Report of concerned BOD / EO Municipal Committee / Nagar Panchayat / Commissioner / Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, as the case may be, declaring destitute and abandoned women.

Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana Components

There are 2 components of Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana which aims to support two specific age groups:-

  • Component 1 – Every child of eligible women and disabled parents in the age group of 0 to 18 years shall be entitled to a monthly grant of Rs. 1,000. This assistance would cover educational, health, and nutritional expenses of the children.
  • Component 2 – All eligible children / eligible persons shall get free education after securing admission in any undergraduate / postgraduate / degree / PhD / professional / nursing / JBT / diploma courses, vocational courses etc. offered by govt-run educational institutions / universities / colleges situated in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Course fee, hostel fee and mess charges of such eligible children / persons shall be borne by the state government. Further, priority will be given to eligible children / persons in admissions to hostels run by the concerned government institutions. Under this component, it is estimated that govt. will spend Rs. 10,000 on each children.

Furthermore if the hostel is not available, rent/PG charges @ Rs. 3000 per month shall be provided.

Mukhya Mantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana in HP Budget 2024-25

On 17 February 2024, Finance Minister presented Himachal Pradesh Budget 2024-25. While presenting the budget, FM said “I also announce the launch of a new scheme ‘Mukhya Mantri Sukh-Shiksha Yojana’. Under this, the State Government will bear the expenses of the education of children up to 27 years of age of all such widows in the State, whose annual income from all sources is less than Rs. 1 lakh. This assistance will be provided to these children after they get admission in medical college, engineering college, NIT, IIM, IIT, Nursing, graduation/ postgraduation courses”.

HP Finance Minister added “Apart from this, Rs. 1,000 per month will be deposited in the RD accounts of all eligible children of widows, destitute, divorced and disabled parents till they attain the age of 18 years. The annual premium for health insurance of all eligible women will be borne by the State Government. Approximately Rs. 41 crore additional expenditure will be made on this”.

Need for HP Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana

Women who are widowed, deserted or abandoned often face arduous challenges in supporting their children. This is largely due to lack of educational and financial resources. These women are particularly vulnerable because of lacking the moral and financial support they need to sustain and ensure their children’s education. CM Sukh Shiksha Scheme aims to prevent crimes such as child abuse, trafficking, child marriage, and drug abuse by strengthening child protection at family level.
