Select state, district, electricity distribution company and enter your consumer account number, captcha. On entering correct details, click at “Next” button to open PM Surya Ghar Yojana Online Registration page 2.

Enter your mobile number and then hit at “Click to send Mobile OTP in SMS” button.
Enter OTP received on your registered mobile number to verify mobile no. Next enter email ID, captcha and click “Proceed” button to complete PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana online registration process.

Fill in the details in the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana application form and “Submit” it to complete apply online process for the rooftop solar installation.
Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM.
Once installation is completed , submit the plant details and apply for net meter.
Commissioning certificate will be generated from the pmsuryaghar.gov.in portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM.
Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Subsidy Structure
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana aims to benefit 1 crore households with an outlay of Rs. 75,021 crore. Scheme provides a central financial assistance of 30,000 subsidy for 1 KW system, Rs. 60,000 for 2 KW systems, Rs. 78,000 for 3KW system, Rs. 96000 for 4 KW and Rs. 114000 for 5KW systems. Households can apply for subsidy through national PM Surya Ghar portal and can select suitable vendor for installing rooftop solar. Benefits of PM Surya Ghar Yojana
According to the government, the benefits expected from this solarisation are as follows:-
Savings up to Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 18,000 per annum for households;
Free solar electricity for residential consumers;
Earning money by selling the surplus electricity to the distribution companies;
Charging of electric vehicles;
Entrepreneurship opportunities for a large number of vendors for supply and installation;
Employment opportunities for the youth with technical skills in manufacturing, installation and maintenance.
PM Modi on PM Surya Ghar Yojana
Prime Minister Modi wrote on X “In order to further sustainable development and people’s wellbeing, we are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This project, with an investment of over Rs. 75,000 crores, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month”. PM added “In order to popularise this scheme at the grassroots, Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats shall be incentivised to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdictions. At the same time, the scheme will lead to more income, lesser power bills and employment generation for people”.
He mentioned “From substantive subsidies, which will be given directly to people’s bank accounts, to heavily concessional bank loans, the Central Government will ensure that there is no cost burden on the people. All stakeholders will be integrated to a National Online Portal which will further convenience”.
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Union Budget 2024-25
Finance Minister presented Union Budget 2024-25 on 23rd July 2024. While delivering her budget speech, she said “In line with the announcement in the interim budget, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has been launched to install rooftop solar plants to enable 1 crore households obtain free electricity up to 300 units every month”.
