PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana Extended
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union govt. has extended the timeline for PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana implementation. Around 80 crore people will get free ration till 1 January 2029. To implement extended PMGKAY scheme, govt. will spend Rs. 11.80 lakh crore in next 5 years. This means that each year Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana would cost Rs. 2.36 lakh crore every year to the central govt’s exchequer.
The hon’ble PM Narendra Modi firstly launched PMGKAY scheme in April 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. This scheme was meant to provide 5 kg foodgrains to each family to sustain their livelihood who were unable to work during lockdown. PM Modi on PMGKAY Scheme Extension
