Under Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana, the state govt. will provide financial assistance to the poor and destitute for conducting cremation. Odisha govt. will provide aid between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 3000 in rural and urban areas to the family of the deceased to perform last rites and rituals.
In order to free the people from hardship / tension of carrying the body of their deceased family members from the place of death to the place of the cremation / burial, specially designed dead body carrying vehicles (hearse) have been provided out of CMRF resources of CMRF to the district hospitals, medical College & hospitals etc under an initiative called “Mahaprayan”.
