About Odisha Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana
To take ease of living and citizen centric service delivery to the next level, several landmark schemes have been launched by Odisha state government. Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana is a one such scheme launched for providing assurance of quality health care to all citizens of the state. It includes health coverage for almost 96 lakh families (except regular government employees and income tax payees) in Odisha.
Each beneficiary is entitled to cashless and paperless treatment upto Rs. 5 lakh in any govt. or empanelled private hospital across the state. For women, the limit of health insurance is double the amount (Rs. 10 lakh). It is a new scheme launched by newly elected BJP led Odisha government. The GJAY scheme was earlier known as Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
Notice for 5 Hospitals De-empanelled from G-JAY
Odisha govt. on 23rd October 2024 has de-empanelled 5 hospitals from Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (G-JAY). This decision to de-empanel hospitals has been taken due to alleged irregularities committed by the clinical establishments. The grievance redressal and internal vigilance mechanism of the State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) took the action. The names of these de-empanelled hospitals are as follows:-
Mittal Institute of Medical Science, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
Banthia Hospital, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
Soni Multispeciality Hospital and Maternity Home, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
Babuji Care Hospital, Raipur, Chhattisgarh
Samaleswari Nursing Home, Deoghar, Odisha
SHAS has conducted an inquiry into the irregularities and complaints thoroughly before taking action against the hospitals. Out of these de-empanelled hospitals, 4 are from Outside Odisha while 1 is within Odisha state.
The internal vigilance mechanism of SHAS, through their regular watchful analysis of the grievances received from people, claims submitted by the hospitals, and feedback received through the 104 call centre, detected the irregularities. The health department has warned that any such fraudulent activity will be dealt with more severely in the future.
