AP Deepam 2 Scheme Launch by CM
The hon’ble Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched AP Deepam 2 Scheme on 1st November 2024. What is AP Deepam 2.0 Scheme 2024?
AP Deepam Scheme 2024 offers three free cooking gas cylinders per annum to eligible women. 3 LPG cylinders would be given at an interval of 4 months i.e April to July, August to November, December to March. The scheme has begun from 1st November as a Diwali gift and 1st cylinder for the current year is given to beneficiary to mark official launch of AP Deepam 2 Scheme.
Deepam (light) is one of the “super six” poll promises given by the TDP chief in the run-up to the 2024 elections. Super 6 schemes also include Rs. 1,500 monthly pension for women in the age bracket of 19 to 59 years, 20 lakh jobs for youth or Rs. 3,000 monthly unemployment aid and free bus travel for women. Other schemes are Rs. 15,000 for every school-going child per annum and Rs. 20,000 annual financial assistance to every farmer.

Fund Allocation for Deepam 2 Scheme
CM Chandrababu Naidu gave his approval for the Deepam scheme which requires an amount of Rs. 2,684 crore per year and Rs. 13,423 crore over the next 5 years. Supplying three free gas cylinders is one among the Super Six guarantees announced by the ruling TDP and Jana Sena during the election campaign.
Deepam Scheme guidelines are being finalized to successfully implement the scheme. CM mentioned, “Despite the precarious financial situation, the State government will move ahead in the implementation of welfare schemes which are highly beneficial to the people, particularly to the poor.” He added that supplying free gas cylinders is a step forward in fulfilling the promises made as part of the Super Six initiatives.
AP Deepam Scheme 2.0 Amount Reimbursement
In the cabinet meeting, it was decided that each LPG cylinder will cost ₹894.92. All the eligible families will get the reimbursement of this amount into their account through direct benefit transfer within 48 hours of the delivery.
AP Deepam Scheme 2 Apply Online (Booking)
The booking for free LPG cylinder supply under AP Deepam Scheme has begin 3 days before the Diwali festival i.e 28 October 2024, so that the delivery of the cylinders can be done on the day of the festival. The state government has entered into an agreement with three gas companies – Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation.
AP Deepam 2 Scheme Eligibility Criteria
While mentioning the eligibility, CM said “AP Deepam scheme, under which free cooking gas cylinders will be supplied to all eligible women in the state, should be implemented transparently from Diwali”. All the eligible women will get 3 free cylinders in a year, CM added. He has directed the officials to make arrangements to book the cylinders much in advance, particularly from October 28, as the supply begins on 1st November 2024.
CM even directed the officials to prepare a plan to deposit the gas subsidy amount in the bank accounts of beneficiaries within two days after delivering the cylinders. Asserting that TDP-led NDA government is committed for the welfare of women, CM Naidu said that the money that they had spent till now on gas cylinders can be utilised for other domestic purposes from now on.
AP Deepam Scheme Phase Wise Implementation
AP Deepam scheme will be implemented in three phases, once in four months:-
1st Phase: April to July,
2nd Phase: August to November and
3rd Phase: December to March.

If the consumers had any grievances in the implementation of AP Deepam scheme, they would be redressed at the desks in the village and ward secretariats immediately.

Deepam Scheme status checking facility would be available only after the 1st reimbusement amount is transferred into beneficiary’s account. So, you will have to wait till the time scheme is officially launched and payment in the form of reimbursement is made to the beneficiaries. As on 2nd November 2024, the present status is that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has launched Deepam Scheme 2.0 near Diwali festival.
Benefits of AP Deepam Scheme
The Chief Minister felt that such schemes will certainly help improve the living conditions of the poor. “This is the reason why the State government has decided to go ahead with the scheme despite financial constraints,” he asserted and instructed the officials to ensure flawless implementation of the scheme, leaving no scope for complaints from the beneficiaries.
The total additional burden on the state treasury for Deepam Scheme in the upcoming 5 years would be Rs. 13,423 crore, which is Rs. 2,684 crore per annum.
Deepam 2 Scheme in AP Budget 2024-25
On 11th November 2024, Finance Minister presented AP Budget 2024-25. While delivering budget speech, FM said “To fulfil a Super Six promise, our government has launched the Deepam 2 scheme to provide 3 LPG cylinders a year free of cost. An amount of Rs. 895 crore has been released for the 1st LPG cylinder in 2024-25. More than 5 lakh beneficiaries have already received the subsidy amount. Another promise will be implemented in due course to introduce free travel for women in public transport buses. This initiative is aimed at increasing the participation of women in workforce”.
