PM Narendra Modi had launched an umbrella scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in which there are 2 components. The names of two components of PMAY Scheme are PMAY Urban (PMAY-U) and PMAY Gramin (PMAY-G). While PMAY Urban aims to ensure housing for all in urban areas, PMAY Gramin ensure housing for all in rural areas. The official website for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin is pmayg.nic.in. Note that PMAY Gramin is the restructured form of Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) which was initially started in the year 1985 by the then congress led Union government. In the modified form i.e PM Awas Yojana Gramin, each beneficiary is entitled to get financial assistance for construction of house in rural areas.
PMAY Gramin beneficiary is entitled to 90.95 person day of unskilled labour from MGNREGS. The assistance for construction of toilet shall be leveraged though convergence with SBM-G, MGNREGS or any other dedicated the source of funding. Convergence for piped drinking water, electricity connection, LPG gas connection etc. under other central govt. schemes is also attempted.
